Story: Rise of the Phoenix

Every 500 years, the Phoenix is reborn. From the ashes, the Phoenix rises and soars high into the sky with bursting flame. When the Phoenix spreads its wings, life returns to the earth. All flowers bloom and life flourish once again.

The phoenix, thus, represents immortality. And In the center of this Bakhtiari, you can see the bursting flame with red surrounded by yellow and orange flame outlines.

What follows immediately are all sorts of floral patterns in the field, symbolising the rebirth of the life forms and earth. The red frame represents fire.

The alternating black and white motifs represent the cycle of death and rebirth, which is the meaning of fire in the Phoenix immolation every 500 years. Everything is captured perfectly in this antique and lasting Bakhtiari rug.
